I had intended to photograph the body in motion, interpreting the connection between humanity and nature. But what appeared were mythical beings. In recording multiple layers of personality, I've discovered portraiture that seems to create a dialogue with the soul. I see now what I saw back when, in editing the photographs of my younger self. I seek the spirit of the dancers more than a literal recording and the shape of a movement rather than its stopping point. Capturing nature's grandeur became too distancing. I started photographing inches away. The closer I looked, the better I connected.
